Which anime is this?

Hi,

about 5 years ago I saw part of an anime that had a boy building an aircraft
and later a "pig like" man flying aircraft. I think they may have been into
racing them but then a war came???
Sorry. That's about as much as I can remember.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to which anime it may be?
