what's so thrilling about anime?

I was reading through some back articles in this user group, searching
for the answer to my question. One article said "much of anime *does*
have an 'undercurrent of nudity and thrill'". Is it just the nudity
that gives anime it's thrill? Or is it  hunting and finding
difficult-to-get-titles, or listening to the rocking film
sound-tracks?

I really want to know.
