I found this site a couple of years ago while reading an article on supercavitating undersea weapons (like Russia's "Squall" high-speed torpedo [1]) on the Scientific American website titled "Warp Speed Underwater": http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleID=000CA29B-0EA6-1C70- 84A9809EC588EF21 (watch for text wrap) "Deep Angel" is the story, set in the year 2078, of the crew of the U.S.S. Angelus, a huge supercav sub/aircraft carrier operated by the U.S. Navy, and its fight against a despotic empire located in the mid- Western Pacific. The draft scripts I read back then had the story kick off with an attack on the U.S. Navy's fleet yards at Pearl Harbor by the Kalithan Empire. The creators of "Deep Angel" are apparently shopping it around as a TV or theatrical screenplay and as a computer/video game. It reads and sounds like a rather ambitious and expansive work -- the creators have gone into great detail on the ship, the fighter craft, the characters, and even the plot and scenario. (I'm left wondering at a couple of images on the website, though -- one of the lead characters is named "Ryan Hunter" and one of the Storm Rider air/sea fighters is painted in marking reminiscent of Roy Fokker's Valkyrie in Macross -- an anime homage, perhaps?) Parts of this kind of remind me of another work involving CGI and submarines -- a 4-part anime series called "Blue Submarine No. 6". Maybe the brains behind "Deep Angel" could learn a thing or two from the people at Gonzo Digimation.... ----- [1] Interestingly enough, there is an entire page on deepangel.com dedicated to the Squall, and the site's image gallery has two images of CGI renderings of the Squall. -- Glenn Shaw Indianapolis, IN USA Sergeant-at-Arms, Indiana Animation Club (www.indyanime.org) To reply by e-mail, remove "nospam" and transpose CAST and NET
