So my caring and loving wife went by a Gameware the other day and sees the Trigun First Donuts soundtrack. My wife, knowing that I happen to like the Trigun soundtrack picks, it up and gives it to me as an "early Christmas present." She spent 20 bucks on it. It was a Son May CD. I didn't have the heart to tell her. Anyway, I tried to bring it back. Its not that I have any particular problem about buying bootleg CDs, but I do have a problem with spending 20 bucks on a freaking bootleg that I KNOW I can find just about anywhere else for less than 10. The manager first of all gives me attitude that these aren't bootleg CDs because its just not possible that a store would be selling bootlegs. I explain to him about Son May and Everanime, et al, and even suggest that he take a break from playing his PS2 and Google on his computer "Son May." He then tells me that they cannot accept back merchandise that is out of the shrinkwrap. "It didn't come shrinkwrapped" I tell him. It didn't, actually. I even point him to the rack in his store where he has other soundtrack CDs for sale, and none of them are shrinkwrapped either. He then explains to me that he gives customers the option of having it shrink-wrapped when they purchase these CDs. It became immediately clear that I am stuck with a 20 dollar Son May Trigun CD. I thanked him for his time, flipped him off (mentally) and politely informed him that I would not be doing business with his store again (which I wouldn't have been doing anyway. Who buys videogames from mall game stores?=) and left. All that to get to this point; any of you out there who actually DO purchase bootleg CDs, where do you purchase them? I've listened to this CD and the sound quality is pretty good (of course, I don't have the 40 bucks to drop on an original, so I can't really compare), so are Son May CDs pretty reliable as far as sound quality goes? I have a "collection" addiction and will want to get the other Trigun Donuts. I've seen the Son May bootlegs online for about $8.50, is that about the best price on them? P.S. I don't need any lectures about buying bootlegs and that being evil. I have the official Trigun box set on DVD, and would purchase the official soundtracks if I had the coin to drop. But I don't.
