Godannar #7.

After 7 episodes, the series has maintained a fairly high level of
energy, but none of the characters are really engaging, and the
whole standardized Giant Robot shtick - shouting attacks, talking
about strength and bravery, "scientists" declaiming all sorts of
psuedo-technical silliness - is consuming way too much screentime
with its totally unoriginal dialog.

The fanservice in this show is almost like really loud background
music. It isn't actually present inside the world of "Godannar",
the director lathers it across the surface of his/her world as
decoration for the viewer. Though one bystander does have a slight
reaction to Dr. Aoi's little clothing "rupture" in ep 5.

Now I know why harem shows feature nebbishy teenage leads. It's
because it's even weirder to see a bunch of cute girls form a harem
around a middle-aged man.

My biggest question so far - even though they've been married for
a while now, do Go and Anna actually sleep together? Have they made
love even once? The sexual politics of the giant robot teams are
pretty weird. For instance, Anna fights massive alien invaders, at
considerable risk to her own life, by piloting a giant robot. She's
married to another such pilot. Yet she has to ask her husband's
permission for important decisions; is he her guardian as well as her
spouse? Plus, she's on an *allowance*. Hasn't her PhD mother taught
her the value of having one's own income?

when she agreed to her daughter's marriage to Go, did she know that
Go's old flame was still alive, rather than dead, as Go then believed?
If so, what was she smoking?
