Bet I'm older -- I was ten when it aired the first time in the
U.S. ...

Tezuka Productions did a new version using state-of-the-art
animation for release in Japan this year. There was a "premiere"
episode which aired on 1 January (IIRC), followed by the main series
opening on (mochiron) 7 April, Atomu's birthday (4/7/2003 in the
original manga). This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the
opening of the original B&W series from Mushi Productions. There was
also a first "remake" done in color in 1980, which aired in Japan,
France (I actually caught an episode there back in '88), and a number
of other European countries. [There was also a brief live-action(!)
series which ran sometime in the mid-1950s. Does anyone here know
much about this?]

Animerica keeps showing the new series as running on WB, but I've
yet to see it scheduled where I am. Is it actually running in the
U.S. or are they jumping the gun on this notice?
