I haven't checked Japanese scrolls - but if you look at the drawings of Villard de Honnecourt, a Medieval architect, you will find lots of "disturbingly modern". If the Europeans are doing it, why shouldn't the Japanese? (And "medieval" is about as much as you get this early in the morning, when I'm composing off-line. For further information, check Google.) Rose You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
