Seems pretty negative toward comics to me.

Same reason why this newsgroup is called rec.arts.ANIME.misc instead of
rec.arts.cartoons.japan or rec.arts.animation.japan. Of course we are not
going to be foolish enough to say that discribing anime as Japanese cartoons
or animation, as "utterly insufficient and degrading."
