The enemies' stats level up faster than yours (unless you do an end-run
around the system by learning every single stat-increaser-at-level-up GF
skill, and then equip them all to one "level-up-character" at a time) so
you get weaker in comparison.

If you absolutely MUST have a "can't level up" system, then it should be
done like Chrono Cross. Besides, it's not like you couldn't run around
tediously fighting to get ungodly powerfil in FFVIII...you just weren't
doing it through level-building.

Well, yes, if you consider them good RPGs. ;p

Everything in the World of Ruin aside from getting back the characters
you had before.

<shrug> I never had the slightest difficulty with FFVI, even when I
didn't bother to level up. As I said, the main benefit to level-up that
I could see was turning Celes into a unbeatable god who could kill Kefka
by herself.

I'll eventually go back and finish the game, and I'll see then. ;p

I have that. It's quite good, but the necessary levelling up (there's
that again!) to make decent Einherjar can be very tedious, especially on
Hard Mode.
