Escaflowne movie questions

I'm writing a fanfic based on the movie. I recently rechecked the
Hitomi/Yukari scenes near the beginning while working on the final
draft of my fanfic, and I've got some questions.

Hitomi's watch indicates that it's Saturday the 18th.

Given that Hitomi's wearing a summer uniform, the rooftop scene would
have to take place no earlier than June 1 and no later than September
30.

Looking through my Date Manager program, I came up with September of
1999 and August of 2001.

I decided to use the 2001 dates in my fic, because it was shortly
before the movie premiered in the U.S.

Of course, September of 1999 is probably what the Japanese had in
mind, considering that the movie was released in Japan in 2000.

Anyone know for sure?

Is it normal for Japanese high school students to go to school on
Saturday?

The following scenes are confusing. We see Hitomi and Yukari riding a
bus, crossing a street, walking along a sidewalk, riding a bus, and
walking along near a stadium or track or something (the grabbing and
giggling part). Between those scenes, we see Hitomi standing in some
doorway by herself at sundown. Where is she?

What happens when? Is it even all on the same day?

Finally, where are Hitomi and Yukari sitting before Yukari leaves? I
had assumed that it was the school, but didn't they leave school? Is
it Hitomi's apartment building or something?

What's that stadium or track or whatever that Folken is sitting in?
