That's kind of funny. Sagara was the only one I could tolerate in the dub.
His interpretation of the character may be off from what you were expecting,
but he's fairly well acted. Plus, I didn't find his comfortable demenor to
be that inappropriate. When Sagara is in his element (and even when he's
not, he usually doesn't quite catch that fact), he's comfortable and
confident. That's important to display since that's probably what drew
Chidori to him in the first place (I've only seen the first to DVDs, so I
may be off). Even in the subbed version, I didn't get the idea of him being
tightly wound our hopelessly stiff. Rather, there's a hint of Sgt. Joe
Friday - just the facts, ma'am - in his personality. That, and someone
who's never known anything but the life he lives... naive to the rest of the
world.
