I'm not surprised about the "southern accent" - it's the standard way of dubbing Osaka-ben these days, I think? How was Sorata's voice dubbed in X? (although I'm looking forward to when ADV give Osaka the Brooklyn accent they've given her in the manga for the dub of Azumanga Daioh...) Arumi's father affects a terrible French accent in the Japanese as well from time to time IIRC, too. Andrew H
