Initial D Review

Being a racing fan and an Anime fan I was interested in "Initial D", but after
watching the first two eps last night I have cooled off completely... the
animation outside the car sequences is attrocious, the frame rate is really
lacking unless it's a car and then you're watching CG (which only serves to
make the cell animation look worse)... but the most lame thing about the series
is the plot or severe lack-there-of... if there is a rivalry, it's contained to
narrowing their eyes at each other and commending the driving of the rivals
with polite reverance.

There is absolutely nothing here to move the car sequences along, and truth be
told, the car stuff is about as boring as the plot. At only three eps for your
money and startlingly little happening in those eps, I'd give it a 1/2 star out
of five, and that only because the disc played with no technical problems.
