Many fans of "The Secret of NIMH" would love to have a widescreen
release on DVD, but the sad reality is that the film was produced in the
full-frame ratio otherwise and if it was made to be widescreen, ti
would've cut off those areas that would degrade the film somewhat.

I'll probably get the UK release anyway (at least it has a documentary).
The US DVD release just came out a while ago, but the only thing extra
included is "Father Christmas".
