It reminds me of that female character in the Fast Show that is always concerned about "Does my bum look big in this?" > Meanwhile, I made a post at the Toonzone forums about the theory that > Rocket Power might have cut short The Weekenders' lifespan. CN comes up with the Powerpuff Girls, so Disney do Teamo Supremo. Fox does Totally Spies, Disney do Kim Possible. It's nothing unusual, and doesn't necessarily mean that one or the other is bad, but it does point to an overall lack of originality in certain quarters... > I also pointed out some diffs: > * TW doesn't use the ep title on the opening caption (or anywhere), RP > does > * RP is all about sports, TW is all about weekend life in general > * Since when did you ever see Otto Rocket at a museum? > * And since when (besides Tishing) did you ever see TW use fake slang? > Most importantly, I claimed that since RP was on cable, it couldn't have > done much damage to TW's ratings. Here's the thread: > http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=95692 . I'm not a great one for web forum chatting, but I'll have a look when I get a moment. As for the differences, some of that has got to be based around the creative element and the vested interests. Disney spend an awful lot of their output on moralising, something that the other channels don't do anything like as much (although it does happen). > Tell me what you think of it, and while you're at it, why not check > out this "clichebusters" thread (which also mentions TW quite a few > times as well)?: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=94296 I suppose the amount of episodes of various cartoons each company is expected to produce each year means that sooner or later a cliche is bound to occur... -- //\ // Chika <miyuki at crashnet.org.uk> // \// The second ZFC coming <crashnet.org.uk/zedeffcee> ...
