Eheim 2252 Internal Filter

I have the opportunity of buying a new Eheim 2252 internal filter at an
excellent price, but have never had an internal filters.  I know Eheim is
the top of the range, so am keen, but would appreciate comments on this
model.  (My tank is 75 gal, and this would be to supplement the inadequate
trickle filter I already have.)

How convenient are they to use and clean?

If I buy it will I become involved in an expensive replacement filter medium
racket?

Would it be likely to suck in newborn babies in my community freshwater
tank?
