Dude. You really should stick to what you know because just because a device has a serial number, that doesn't mean that the ISP (I own one) needs the serial number of the device to send you a fucking bill. In case you didn't know this, we don't have to rent modems in the US. Our customers have the right to rent a modem or provide their own modem. The MAC address that comes up on the device when they attempt to put it on our network is assigned to their account. Not the god damn serial number. Maybe your ISP works that way, but not Cox. As for your attempts at hacking my router (you should see these logs :)) it's a Cisco 806 as for hijacking your modem... I would never attempt something so risky when I can forge the packets in an attempt to make them look like they are from your device, your network, your isp. Maybe you should go ask some more questions in the newsgroup because you appear to be text book semi-smart, but common sense and practical use stupid. "AC" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] A serial number is required by the ISP otherwise the modem would not be authenticated. and the person using the modem would not get a monthly bill. Unless your clients use stolen modems and your ISP is unaware that they have their hardware in permissive mode, which is highly unlikely. And if they do and are unaware, I will make them aware. Check the modem, it has a serial number.
