Ulcers are primarily caused by baterial infection, which is most often caused by poor water quality. Treat affected fish in a hospital tank with a gram negative antibiotic like kanamycin, tetracycline, anything with furan, or maracyn-2. These antibiotics will also kill the nitrifying bacteria in your tank. Most of all, keep up with weekly water changes!
