Yep, the plant that did it is called a Red Foxtail or something like that (local LFS buy). It was about an inch from the surface in the morning when I started working on installing the MH kit. After I was done and the lights had run much of the afternoon, they were touching the surface (abt an inch away) and bubbling like crazy. My Amazon swords have steady streams of bubbles coming from the edges of the leaves. No kidding. I'm not very savvy with the plant names and I have a pretty poor colection of plants ATM because I've been more worried about getting everything healty before expanding. Now that I have the lighting sorted out, it's time to get the nutrients correct and start filling the tank with plants. I found a place on the net that sells assortments of plants. One of them comes with a huge collection plants that claims to easily fill a 75gal such as mine for $140. Does this sound like a reasonable idea? Or anyone who gives away clippings for the cost of shipment (paypal?)?
