Where are you from?? because, not only does that sound 'different' but it's
nothing I've EVER heard before, atleast on this side of the pond, the US
side that is.... Mulm is, said to be, fish poop, decaying plant matter, and
that being said, is basically plant food....  I do agree that mulm is ok to
'be' there, but not in abundance, or to a point that it precipitates water
chemistry changes... too much CAN be a bad thing....

Looks like an overflow filter in a way, but still not convinced that's the
'new thing in aquaria'

Funny that the only fish in that tank are Otos and cardinal shrimp...
