Paint

I've had my aquarium set up now for about 6 months. I now notice that the
plastic logs are now losing their 'natural' colouring, it seems as if the
fish are somehow wearing it away. When I spoke to my LFS about this I was
told that this is quite normal!
I would like to re-paint them. Firstly has anyone else experienced this
problem, and secondly can anyone recommend the type of paint/colouring that
I should use to refurbish them?
