Hi, Blue acaras are lovely fish & not as aggressive as many cichlids but they are carnivores & will eat small fish. They are fine with suitable sized tankmates but small fish will eventually become a meal. You tank is really too small for adults of this species. I kept a breeding pair in a heavily planted 4' tank & used large guppies as dither fish - & their fry as conditioning food. For your tank I'd suggest one of the smaller species of cichlid;- look at the genus Laetacara . Several species that are not too hard to find, appropriate in size for your tank & not too nasty to tankmates. Apistogramma species are beautiful & a size smaller. A google search on either of these genus will give you lots of info from all sorts of sources. I've not been impressed by fish profiles. Most compatability charts seem to be aimed at dealers selling fish -not fish being kept long term.
