Re: Lazy Bones Or Perhaps Un Detected Illness ??

Hi Mel

My water condition is top quality I clean the tank once a week and use all of the correct treatments for it
I have also tested the ph and that to is fine

The treatments I have are Water Conditioning Salts / Water Ager / Pura Water { Liquid Natural Biological Cleaner }
and my ph test kit

I just added a new flexible air stone to you know the sort that looks like a hose and can bend any which way

Now I have that plus 2 round air stones  one at each end of my under gravel filter which is also working fine

With the new hose like stone Lazybones suddenly found all those wonderful new bubbles and swam over

Next thing I see it had fanned the tail out and was swimming up and down like it was dancing in all the bubbles

I would say he or she but how do you sex a black moor ? any way since that stone was added 2 days back there
has been more sudden bursts of energy and swimming / dancing along all the bubbles

Named Lazybones because of all the suspicious sitting on the bottom like it was sleeping I still see that to at times
but as I don't sit and stare in the tank all day I can not be sure how long it has been sitting there

All my other fishes appear to be fine I have studied them carefully and can not detect any illness or change of anything
on their body nothing on Lazybones either they also eat well and what little I do give them all goes any ideas ?

Have you tested your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate)? If not then you should as poor water quality should be the first thing you rule out.

Hi folks well my tank is doing nicely after 2 weeks my fishes are very happy I have a well established
real plant and 2 larger sized air stones inside tubing so they have many bubbles and just love it

But I am curious one of my Black Moor well as I have 2 it appears to be the same one often I find
it just sitting on the bottom of the tank

Not upside down on its side crooked or anything but just resting on its belly very upright and perfectly
straight with his top fin down slightly

The second time I noticed this I put it in my spare bowl alone for a few hours and it seemed to do fine swimming around looking active

I also checked carefully and it does not appear to be missing any body parts or have any kind of illness that I can see at all

This resting on the bottom as I call it last for some time and then it moves on I do not watch the tank all day so
I am not sure how long this rest period last for

I have noticed though on passing often that the same fish is in a different place and when I go near they including lazy bones all come over to the side thinking I am going to feed

Not only that but lazy bones eats well and often has energy bursts where there is much movement and activity
so what can you tell me about this behavior I am at a loss to explain it ?? Vikki
