Newbie

Hi all! I have just set up a new 55 gallon tank. Treated the water, tested
fine and now have put 5 giant danios and 2 zebra danios. Biggest one is
about 1.5" in length. I put these kinds of fish cuz I read they were hearty
and can withstand the spikes that occur during cycling. I have been reading
this newsgroup for a while before I set up the tank and learned a lot. My
question is does tank maintenance increase with live plants? I plan on
adding some cichlids and oscars to the tank once it has cycled. thanks in
