I've bought a globe - about 80 years old I guess, and although the globe itself is in quite good condition, the stand and bezel needs cleaning. I've no experiance in tackling this sort of thing, but as a first step how should I try to clean/restore the wooden base ? The bezel is of a silver coloured metal which seems pitted, I can't identify the metal. Any ideas folks ? Thanks
