Re: Hallicrafters Crystal Filter/Phasing Alignment... HELP!

I've seen  Hallicrafters sets (SX-42 comes to mind) where
the crystal was defective.  Those are early pressure-mount (and
sealed, IIRC)  crystal holders, and the crystal activity can
fall off dramatically  over the decades.   I
remember replacing at least one crystal with a modern wirelead
device to get the phasing notch functional.
