Yes it resets to the index point upon first pulse.. then counts from there..
lots of fun getting the Remote and the in the box pushbuttons to match ..
as adjusting one effects the other to some extent... 

It also does Volume Up and Volume Down.. and OFF ..if yours has enough
poop in the belt drive ... and "Mute" is the 3rd dial position.
