It can also be noted that, though it tends to reduce the life of the
vibrator contacts, vibrator type car radios will actually run from AC (at
their rated voltage, not right out of the outlet.. LOL) The vibrator doesn't
give a darn about what it's run off of.. AC or reverse polarity DC even.
When I was a kid, I ran them directly off of old filament transformers (they
may have been fused at 14A, but usually draw less than 5A).
