Fairly easy in transformer radios (well, most of them, anyway).. ill advised
in transformerless ones.  Basically, open the line between the detector and
the volume control, and insert a shorting type jack of some kind (RCA jacks
as such are available). Most collectors don't care to modify chassis this
way, though.
