By crudding up do you mean that they're eroding and if that's the case you have the wrong size condenser. Take a close look and see which side is getting bigger becasue point material is being transfered. I can't recall but I'm sure there's someone here who knows are has an old auto tune up book and can tell you if the condenser is too large or small by the polarity of the transfer.
