The Tube Collectors Association published a pamphlet on early radar 
triodes a couple years ago, with a LOT of coverage of the Zahl tubes and 
other WW2 era VHF tubes. AFAIK, back issues are still available. A post 
onto the TCA's email reflector at:

might bring a lot more info.
