Indian Wars Army Eagle Helmet Plate, 1880s

This 1880s U.S. Army Artillery Eagle Helmet Plate is in new, unissued
condition. It measures about 5" high and is a heavy gold gilded stamped
Eagle. The stamping is highly detailed and far more brilliant than normally
seen (I have another Eagle Helmet plate listed that is of a more standard
manufacturer and although in excellent condition, does not have nearly the
detail as this one has). The Eagle has a numeral (1) on the Shield. The
Helmet Plate is 3-piece; being that the numeral (1), Shield, and Eagle are
all three separate pieces. The Helmet Plate has a 3-pin back type attachment
to the helmet. The entire helmet plate is a very heavy stamping with all
gilding remaining. The plate is still attached to the original Bannerman's
sales card that says (U.S. Army and National Guard Helmet Eagle, Discarded
1900). This eagle along with several others will be listed separately. This
helmet plate is about twice the weight normally encountered. The Eagle is
all original and has not been messed with.
