200+ Buffaloes Shot in Guam - Please Help Stop Slaughter!

US Navy snipers are still shooting water buffaloes in Guam despite the
fact that the local people have offered to adopt all of them:
---------
Guam has a herd of 300-400 'feral' buffalo (carabao) that the US Navy
is slaughtering. No USDA food inspector or slaughterhouse so animals
are just left in jungle to rot. I'm trying to get an organized force
to try to get the Navy to stop killing these animals. If you can help,
please email me - or if you want to email directly to US Fish and
Wildlife you can contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] Any comments or
help would be greatly appreciated. The Navy has killed over 200
animals so far - I don't think they will be happy until the herd is
exterminated.

Subject: water buffalo update on Guam's animals`

Hi,

I just joined and was so glad to see that you had covered Guam's
plight with the military. They have now killed over 200 of these
lovely animals and I am hoping that perhaps this group can send
emails to those involved with the US Fish and Wildlife and US Navy to
stop the killing. There is no accurate count on the number of
domesticated animals on Guam - but it is probably under 200. I am
trying to get the mayors to help set up an association so we can
convince the military to let us corral these animals and move them to
safe areas.

I have learned so much the past two months from the websites on water
buffalo - I don't own one yet - but perhaps soon!

If anyone knows of a venue we could use to help stop the slaughter -
please let me know.

Thanks again,

Shirley Miller
