If you haven't got those, you are missing some greate repertoire, and interesting live re-releases of older songs. I don't guarantee that tunings are there -- I am writing from work and the CDs are at home. I had a crack at Canadee-I-O a few years ago in TablEdit format, and let it get out on the web. It is probably still out there in some places, although the official TablEdit collection have now excised most pieces transcribed without the author's permission, including (sad to say) Canadee-I-O. The tuning is CGCGCD but down a step so actually B-flat rather than C tuning. Recently I went to my local public library and looked at a back issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine containing a transcription of Canadee-I-O. It made me realize why I am in the computer business, not in the transcribing business. An even more approximate ASCII tab of Canadee-I-O is available in Rec.music.makers.guitar.tablature from Dec 20, 1995. I was interested in the question of tunings, so I looked around the web and got the following info. (If I got it from the web it must be true, right?) I seem to remember that Clyde Water is CGCGCC with the double C on top allowing some interesting dulcimer effects. I seem to recall (with less confidence) that Farewell To the Gold is in open G -- Ah yes: I posted Bob Cimikowski's notes on it in rec.music.folk.tablature Date: 2000/02/03 The Golden Glove CGCGCD with chords, From: Bob Cimikowski Newsgroups: rec.music.folk Date: 1994-02-10 14:41:48 PST Annan Water DGDGBD The Butcher And The Tailor's Wife DADGBE William And Nancy's Parting DGDGAD William Glen CGCGCC Dance To Your Daddy - Nic Jones DADGAD all of the above thanks to "Tish" in 2000. See aldo Mike Raven's book "English Folk Guitar", which has transcriptions of the tunes that Tish gave us the tunings to. -- Allyn Dimock
