Re: Tascam CD-GT1 experiences?

Hi, Jim.

I'd been wanting one for a long time, especially for lessons. Often my students bring in CD's, and the thought of being able to play along with them at a slower speed seems helpful. Plus I need a better CD player in my studio/cave anyway. So far I've tried slowing down some things. The slower you get the more "artifacts" you hear, but it's pretty cool to take a fast run and slow it down to learn it. It took me a while to figure out how to use it. You can slow down a CD real time, loop I guess (though I've never tried this), change the key (which is real helpful because often the written and recorded music I work off of don't match!) and it's portable. I even plugged my guitar into it and ran it through the stereo to mess with the effects. They're cheesy, but they work for what it's set up for.

A couple things I'd change if I could. The one-button user interface is not real intuitive (to me, anyway). Also, they should have a rechargeable battery. I'd like to be able to drag it around, but it uses 4 AA batteries, which I'm guessing don't last that long. Also, it's pretty plastic'ie for $140.
