In the 1950's, Fred Waring recorded a Christmas album "Now is the Caroling Season". The beauty of this recording is how he ties the songs together with an introduction and periodically through the piece in approximately twelve bars "Now is the Caroling Season, the Holly and the bell, now feasting and good reason now sing we all thee well, Fa-la-la, etc. The chorus singing is remarkable: beautiful tone, excellant diction, and warm singing. Traditional songs like "Holly and the Ivy", "In Sweetest Jubilee", The Christmas Song", and a nice version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas"(not one of my favorites), and "Christmas was mean't for Children". I bought it on CD from Tower last year, although it is not always available. If you are a collector, this recording is for you. Cheers, Fran Stone Lee, Mass.
