We recently tried out a Hoffman 15" viola. It was a lovely looking
instrument. However the set-up had problems, so we choose to
buy a lesser priced viola from Eastman. It had a good full sound
for an interim instrument (growing kid).
The Hoffman did not have smooth pegs and peg holes which made
tuning it very difficult. It also didn't have tuners on all the
strings. All of this could easily be fixed but since we liked
the other instrument we were trying, we ended up not buying the
Hoffman.
