This is my advert off eBay - newsgroups are the best way to let the right
people know about it. I've retired from gigging (some time ago) and need a
home for this. Its needs to be out there and doing its stuff. Its a waste
having it silent. It will go for less than a DSL 60 or TSL 60 head new and
is far better than either. I sold off my perfect Laney Klipp recently for
the same reason - its now in California with a new owner who is a great
musician and loves his new amp.

A rare Marshall 25/50 Jubilee Series Silver Anniversary Head 2553 50w

This amp was made in 1987 but is in mint condition.

The amp has been carefully looked after for it whole life and is simply
stunning in Silver Tolex and Chrome.

The amp has two wonderful Mullard EL34s producing a sound that is like
acoustic gold.

These matched valves / tubes have a high value themselves.

I've included a selection of reviews from Harmony Central (in the eBay ad)
so you can see what others think. I no longer use this amp very much simply
because I've stopped gigging (at last). I've a JCM2000 TSL 112 combo that
does all I need these days.

This amp needs to be gigging and in a recording studio - not resting quietly
at home!! There is no doubt that this amp has a better sound then a TSL for
live work - Slash knows what he is doing!!! The 2553 is very nice live
because of its channel switching and boost on the clean channel. So you can
get the effect of three channels (Clean, crunch and heaven).

The 2553 is the 50Watt version. This is a great help live in most venues
because you can turn it up enough to get output valve / tube distortion. Of
course even a 50w will strip paint when attached to a nice 4x12. Don't
underestimate a 50W amp - a 100W is only 3dB louder (theoretically).

I've sent amps all over the world at times so I'm expert at wrapping them to
survive transit. I usually end up adding 30%-50% to the weight in wrapping.
If you wonder why this amp does not have a reverb - well it just sounds so
sweet it does not need one.

The high gain channel is full, rich and sustaining but quite different to
the JCM900, DSL, TSL high gain sound. Easy to describe - just think of that
throaty, creamy roar from Slash on endless Guns'n'Roses tracks.  Its
powerful but sweeter. ZZ Top (I read) are also known to use these amps.
