As a cheap trick to get more action happening in the review database, I have launched the first official industrial.org contest: "Booty For Grunts". To enter you need to post a new (i.e. written by yourself) review to the EEEI Release Database and then drop an email to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> so I know about it. http://industrial.org/releases.php Multiple entries are just fine and will radically increase your chances of winning. On the schwag front, there are two main categories of prizes - "digital booty" (CDs / CDRs) and "analog booty" (vinyl / tape) which have been culled from my own anemic distro efforts and review submissions. The analog box will contain a selection of vinyl including the excellent "Fields of Fire" slab from Miisc, a 7" from Radon Studios, 2 records from Starlight Furniture Co. and whatever else I can dig up. The digital boxes will feature a mix of stuff including copies of the "Embedded" compilation from Deterrent Industries, some material from Ad Noiseam, Burning Emptiness and a wack more that I will dig through before the closing date (from noise to IDM and back again). The plan is to have at least three main prizes (two digital boxes and one analog) though this might grow if I get in house cleaning mode or there are lots of entries. The cutoff date is January 1, 2004 and only proper reviews will be accepted (i.e. no "it sucks" or "it rules" one liners, no plagiarism please). You don't have to write an essay, but it must at least give a description and your opinion (1 paragraph minimum). Winners will be notified at the end of the contest via email and I'll cover postage regardless of where you are. For more details on the booty or how to submit a review, drop me a note.
