This person wrote Listen to the Mockingbird and How much is that Doggie in the window (Der Deutsher's Dog on the webpage). I learned about him at pdmusic.org, http://www.pdmusic.org/winner.html which has a lot of good lyrics and info from the 19th C. American composers. Anyway, it just seemed funny that he used a female pseudonym, when women composers were likely to use a male name to get published. Of course Mockingbird is a staple of Old time music, whereas the Doggie is relegated to Patti Page and Homer and Jethro (Hound dog in the window). So does anyone know why he was a musical cross dresser? -- For original art, music, pottery, and literature, visit my homepage http://sondahl.com Pottery sales page http://sondahl.freeyellow.com To reply to me directly, don't forget to take out the "garbage" from my address.
