Hi Mark, The Mignone etude you're talking about with the triplets is the first one in A minor marked Vivo. It has a time signature of 2 over 2 . Maestro CB-L is very fond of these pieces and on several occasions played almost all of them for me in my lessons. My favorite and the one that I worked on the most with him was #5 marked Vagaroso (slow/vague) in A minor which reminds me both of Led Zep's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - it's got that mournful feeling with haunting lyricism and some of the chord changes are similar. Beautiful piece, I play it often. Etude #6 is a wonderful piece too with a very catchy melody and a bouncy rhythmic section with the melody in the bass - sorta like Brazilian country music. I have a live recording taped off the radio that has him playing a few of the Mignone etudes (1, 5 & 6 I think), it's a wonderful concert. He also plays the Sonatina by Albert Harris, a light but very pleasant piece with a very sweet middle movement. Vagaroso is the expression marking that Villa-Lobos uses in the Prelude to his Bachianas Brasileiras # 9 for string orchestra-"vagaroso e mistico" (vague and mysterious) Take care, Aryeh http://www.aryeheller.com In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Terlizzi) wrote: > I saw it maybe 4 or 5 times when I was in my mid -teens.
