I remember reading an article a few years ago in either "Frets", or "Guitar Player" magazine, about spinning the treble strings on installation. I believe the technique involved tying the string as usual at the bridge, and then putting the opposite end in the chuck of an electric drill, or something similar, in order to spin a bunch of turns into the string before tying it off at the headstock. The idea being that this would equalize any irregularities in diameter and produce better tone. I remember following this advice a few times and not really noticing much difference in sound, although it did give the strings an interesting feel. Anyone else ever try doing this? Ed Chait
