Tex-Mex Carne Guisada ( beef stew) Ed, I didn't think it really existed outside of a circle here in Texas that is bounded to the North and west by 6th.st. in Austin ( to include The Hut in Dripping Springs) South to Alice, Texas and East from Port Lavaca to Corpus Christi. The absolute best imo, is found at the "Donut-Hole" on Ayers St. in Corpus and it's a toss up in San Antonio between the Blanco Cafe on Blanco and some rinky dink grocery store just off of I-35. I have an excellent recipe from the Donut-Hole if you're interested... it's spicy. I can see a Beaujolais Nouveau with some Mexican food but being so spicy I like an ice cold beer like San Miguel from the Philippines. You have the pizza, cheese cake (Lindy's) and the Fish &Chips but we have the Carne Guisada, shrimp and Chile right here!.... Oh, and tortillas so soft you can wrap them around a pencil two days after you buy them. If you like hot stuff I'll send you a little packet of a local wild chile pepper that grows wild on my place. They are called Chile Petins and not found outside of this area. They are not too hot but really pack a punch for being the size of a 177 caliber or a little bit bigger than a BB. I talk about food a lot because most the time I eat very heathly, not that I adore it. I plan on when and where I indulge in rich high carbs and limit it to once or twice a week. If I flew into N.Y. city tonight, the very first thing I'd have the cabbie do is stop and wait while I picked up a hot pastrami sandwich at Sarge's.... You just can't buy good fat pastrami in Texas. One thing about New York, you do have the best deli's and restaurants to be found in the states. Four muggles you say..... you're a better man than me, the very thought of it scares me. A close lady friend has two in their teens, one driving. I hear the stories... it is good that I was a wandering guitar bum instead of a family man. How is that little French guitar? It ought to be good but they vary a lot even among the same builder. Che' Cheeses and breads . . . . there's a reason why I work away > from the kitchen . goat and smoke cheese would be real nice right now but > I'll have to wait for lunch . > > All this French talk , I'll play my French guitar tonight. . > > peace with red is nice > Ed Bridge > www.bridgeclassicalguitars.com > >
