If I remember my Beatles history correctly, it was when Paul heard the 
single version of "Long and Winding Road" that he finally gave up and 
called an end to his participation in the band. He really disliked the 
strings and choir that Spector added to his song. They are conspicuously 
absent from the "Naked" version, ditto from "Let It Be." I would think that 
if Paul made any requests at all, it was for the removal of those two items 
from those two songs before he would give his final approval.
I don't mind the re-mix of that album, since it would not have been a great 
album no matter what they did to it. I just hope they don't start getting 
any funny ideas about Sgt Pepper or the White Album. That would be treading 
on sacred ground.
