Let me say first off, fsck yeah! <AOL>ME TOO!</AOL> I just wanted to get that out of the way, so I'll proceed to elide a good bit and just elaborate on a few things... Thus spake Dana in news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]: > [...] Peter Jackson was right to do > it for LOTR if only to maintain continuity across 3 very epic films. Well, I'd just like to say that I'm not so annoyed at PJ about his changes in the first two (and undoubtedly the third) LOTR movies after seeing Devolutions. > [...] Matrix: Reloaded was passable. It was strong on cool new > characters... [...] Which they wasted in the third one. What was the point of the Hell Club? Oh yeah, to recreate all the effects from the Morpheus Rescue Lobby scene, and to use the same fscking Trinity jump from the opening scene, and to tell us _again_ that Trinity would sacrifice anything for Neo. We're stupid and the Brothers are deep thinkers who don't do interviews. Whatever. > So now we're at this turd, I mean, third installment. What Chris said > about the Neo vs Smith fight was right on the money. I said aloud in > the theater, "Okay we get it, enough already." [...] ***MAJOR SPOILER ALERT*** ***What you missed the ^^^ Spoiler alert?*** I felt the same way when Trinity died. Geebus...just die already. ***SPOILER ALERT OVER*** ***Nothing to see ^^^ there*** > [...] Kwisatz Hadderach [...] I was wondering if I was the only one to think of Dune when they blinded Neo. > The machine "god" or > spokesmodel or whatever he was... [...] Deus ex machina...quite a fitting name. A plot device used to magically solve a difficult predicament a character has found themselves in, usually due to a lack of creativity of a writer. Man, I remember the first one sparked debate about the meaning of it all and the characters had some depth. The second was a bit lacking in depth, but the third just blew the payoff. -- Toby / NP: "If at first you don't succeed, try try again. And then quit. No sense being a damn fool about it." - W.C.
