Week 9 was dismal for favourites, with only one of the top 9 teams in the
Super Bowl betting on Sunday morning managing a victory! Indianapolis was
the sole member of that elite group and they have now jumped to 7/1 in the
outright market. This was great news for the two contenders who were on a
bye week - Tennessee (6/1), and unbeaten Kansas (7/2 favourites). The latter
now looks assured of a top two seeding in the AFC, particularly since they
have an inviting schedule for the second half, giving them a superb chance
of securing home advantage in the play-offs.
In fact the Chiefs seem to have the knack of meeting teams when they are
weak, this week's encounter against Cleveland (+9.5), with a banged up
offensive and two hobbling quarterbacks, being a good case in point. Tampa
has been the 'Jekyll and Hyde' team of the season, and it would be no great
surprise to see them bounce back against Carolina (+3.0) this week, after
their loss at home to New Orleans. This weekend's live games throw up some
intriguing match-ups:
