How about, *nobody* in those days had to stoop to the sort of facile humour
that is mandatory today, especially in movies and TV. No revolting
bathroom/bodily function jokes or sound effects, no infantile double-entendres
or sexual sight gags, no filthy language, no crotch-kicking... 

Now, *there's* progress for you.
