Some ships use storekeepers most notably Military Sealift Command. It won't count for any other department. As for unions it depends on what you do? First check with SUP Sailors Union Of The Pacific who also are MOWFA for the engine room department. , next is SIUNA (Seafarers International). For unlicensed that's it. There aren't anymore since NMU went belly up and turned the books and so forth over to SIUNA. As for places to work the highest paying but worst place to work is MSC. About $500 a month less or so for entry level and you get a much better deal with either of the unions. But if you need to get a lot of schools which cost money try for MSC get what you can out of them and then leave. . . . which of course is what their program is all about. You'll see why when and if you get there. Michael
