New Towing Requirements

A 200 Ton license no longer includes towing vessel authority. Mariners
who want a license for towing vessels now can attend our 17-day class
and achieve their goal.  Even better, they will also receive a course
completion certificate at the 200 Ton level, which will give them
authority on inspected
vessels as well.  

The course leads to the license of  "Apprentice Mate (Steersman)," and
individuals applying for an original license as Master of Towing
Vessels can also complete the Houston Marine program in lieu of the
examination. Until May 21, 2004, this option is open to anyone whose
service started prior to May 21, 2001 and qualifies under the old OUTV
rules. Call for class time and dates.
