Alrighty then.  The two options would be:

  A) working on a MSC ship as an employee of the federal government
(DoN), or
  B) work out of a union hall and be assigned to a RRF ship or an MSC 
        chartered ship

My curiosity about which would be a better exit strategy for a squid
(vis-a-vis my 7 issues above, or any others) remains unslaked.
